Insta-weekend

My musings in my apartment and my fabulous city this weekend via instagram!

From top left:
1. Treated myself to rock candy and champagne! You would be shocked how difficult it is to find rock candy. Had to go to three different places!
2. Found some cute new pillows (only 5 bucks!) from Ikea this weekend. Oh, and my pup thinks the arm rest is just for him. He is probably right.
3. The Dallas skyline. I went to a downtown vintage flea market on Saturday with some Pi Phi friends! Snapped this pic on the way home!
4. Cheerwine! This North Carolina staple was just sitting on the shelf at Specs! Had to grab it!
5. Got matching stockings for me and my pup!
6. Spent an insane amount of time making custom drink stirrers. A little worried about my sanity after that venture.
7. Grabbed the JCrew luggage everyone has been pinning! Too bad it is a little girls overnight bag :( sad face.
8. Lazy sunday snuggled up with my pup was fabulous
9. YES i'm obsessed with my dog. Wanna fight about it?
10. Heard this oldie but goodie on the radio. Had to snap a pic to remember to go download it later!

How was your weekend, dolls?

Frosty: The Meltally Retarded Snowman

Now if you will turn your attention to this curtain, for my first Pinterest act I will turn an "easy" to recreate melted snowman cookie into a homeless man with no job, no family and no prospects addicted to heroin and cheap vodka sleeping in a gutter in North Bronx, NY.

I'm sure this was supposed to be easy, but I have a craft deficiency and I can't cook. So naturally, for my first pinterest recreation I decided to tackle cooking and crafty-ness. Duh!

By the third cookie I was over it. But I had to keep going. Here is how this sucker breaks down (literally). For those of you who think, "Man, if she couldn't do it, I can't do it." You are wrong. Did I follow the directions? No. Did I even bring a picture to the kitchen with me? No. So sue me. This is why this post will be so entertaining!

So here is what I was supposed to be making thanks to the uber crafty Megan at Crazy Domestic.

And here is what I came up with....

Why I thought a snowman had 73 fingers I'm not sure?

Frat boys on Saturday morning at 4a.m....

Bah HUMBUG!

Challenges: I tried to be cheap (surprise) and use old icing so it was runny. Yuck. Sugar cookies were fine, as was the white icing. I guess I could go back in and mash his head further in. This is your snowman, this is your snowman on drugs.

I am bringing them to a work party (more like pawning them off on co-workers) so we will gauge their reaction. I am somewhat the boss at work so I'm pretty sure their reaction will be null and void because they are required to be nice to me!

I promise I am better with hair and makeup. Maybe I will tackle that next on Pinterest!

I'm dreaming of a Plaid Christmas...

I'm used to plaid being everywhere this time of year, but I'm having a hard time finding plaid anywhere other than J.Crew. Don't get me wrong, I love Jcrew but I can't quite afford that right now because I spent all my money on booze and strippers. Hah, JK this isn't Real Housewives of Atlanta.

I would rather not spend more than $50 on something that will get plaid-out so quickly! Two years ago I found the perfect ruffled plaid shirt in green at WALMART of all places for 11 bucks.

{Me and the hubs 2k8}

What the heck happened to it?? It must have gone to the island of unwanted plaid shirts. Or maybe I just mis-plaidced it. Eh, I tried with that joke, may not have worked, so sue me.

Time for a plaid Splurge or Steal edition...

Splurge vs. Steal Plaid Jackets

Currently drooling over the Burberry jacket (yes, at my desk with a bib on) but that red blazer is not a bad alternative for a Christmas party. Pair it with a sparkly skirt and white button up underneath?

Splurge vs. Steal Plaid Button Up for a Christmas party... Splurge vs. Steal Plaid Button UP
Never thought I would see the day a Ralph Lauren button up was the steal! But what a great price for a regularly $99 top! I want to recreate this look from the blog Late Afternoon...

So pretty, plus that is the same $68 blazer from above!
