I Can Recreate That.... {maybe}

I am a firm believer that I should be able to recreate any print/design from Pinterest in Photoshop, within reason. Sometimes, I like to recreate it exactly, other times it will take a turn and become something similar yet different! Here are some designs I attempted to recreate from Pinterest and I am pretty proud of!

Nailed it? or not...

I haven't hung the sign yet. But I printed a poster (36x48) of the Prada recreation and to save money (since everyone wanted HUNDREDS to print on a canvas) I just used spray adhesive and matted the sign myself on corrugated plastic! I'll update when I find the perfect spot for my new high fashion DIY!

This would be one of those times I started seeking a recreation, and it turned into that similar but different piece. I decided to customize the image with my own pup (his name is General Neyalnd after the University of Tennessee football stadium, go vols!). I actually love love love this print. I am thinking of pairing it with a metallic gold frame. I'll keep you updated on where the pup print finds his FURever home on my wall!

"Excuse Me Sir, Where Are Your Nuts Located?"

Peak my Pinterest: volume 2. This round went much better than the drug addict snowmen. I decided to tackle the Hex Nut Bracelet from Honestly WTF.

I started by trying to track down the right materials (obvi). Finding the rope was no problem. I chose two different kinds of rope to experiment with: one suede, one leather.

Here is where it gets tricky. Unlike all the other people I read who did this project, I didn't just have NUTS laying around the house in an abandoned tool box. I went into Lowe's and walked around for 20 minutes unable to find the "nuts" section. I just was praying I would stumble upon the nuts and not have to ask the Lowe's man, "Excuse me, where are your nuts located." And VOILA I found the nuts... one problem though, I couldn't find any BRASS nuts.. grrr.

Then the Lowe's man comes up and says, "Can I help you with something?" and without thinking I blurt out, "Uh yeah, I can't find your brass nuts." GAH!

ANYWAYSSS... I grabbed my nuts and ran outta there!

PROJECT TIME!

had to tape down the rope, AND YES I bought new tape for the occasion!

You need about 18-20 nuts. Braid your rope for about an inch.

Then you will start braiding your nuts into the rope.

Then continue braiding another inch down and tie off the rope.

Frosty: The Meltally Retarded Snowman

Now if you will turn your attention to this curtain, for my first Pinterest act I will turn an "easy" to recreate melted snowman cookie into a homeless man with no job, no family and no prospects addicted to heroin and cheap vodka sleeping in a gutter in North Bronx, NY.

I'm sure this was supposed to be easy, but I have a craft deficiency and I can't cook. So naturally, for my first pinterest recreation I decided to tackle cooking and crafty-ness. Duh!

By the third cookie I was over it. But I had to keep going. Here is how this sucker breaks down (literally). For those of you who think, "Man, if she couldn't do it, I can't do it." You are wrong. Did I follow the directions? No. Did I even bring a picture to the kitchen with me? No. So sue me. This is why this post will be so entertaining!

So here is what I was supposed to be making thanks to the uber crafty Megan at Crazy Domestic.

And here is what I came up with....

Why I thought a snowman had 73 fingers I'm not sure?

Frat boys on Saturday morning at 4a.m....

Bah HUMBUG!

Challenges: I tried to be cheap (surprise) and use old icing so it was runny. Yuck. Sugar cookies were fine, as was the white icing. I guess I could go back in and mash his head further in. This is your snowman, this is your snowman on drugs.

I am bringing them to a work party (more like pawning them off on co-workers) so we will gauge their reaction. I am somewhat the boss at work so I'm pretty sure their reaction will be null and void because they are required to be nice to me!

I promise I am better with hair and makeup. Maybe I will tackle that next on Pinterest!
