E.T. Phone Home... iPhone Home!

In honor of me getting my new iPhone 4s today, here are three tips and tricks for the iPhone 4/ iOS 5 operating system you may not know. These tips are all about what happens when you double tap the iPhone HOME button! If you are Steve Jobs little sister... I apologize if this is beneath you.

Some of these tips could keep your phone battery from draining out before 11:00am... (of course, not Facebook stalking every three and a half minutes could also help lengthen your battery life). Besides, us fashion girls are more worried about what Designer is going to adorn the outside of our iPhone... not what the inside actually does! ***P.S. see what case won my heart over at the bottom of this post!

1. Mutli-Tasking: There are a lot of things they don't tell you when you get your iPhone, one being, your phone has multi-tasking capabilities. That also means that apps never shut down when you close them out. They continue to run (and zap battery life).

Solution: Double tap your home button while you have it unlocked and running and you will see a list of all apps that are currently running on your phone. Hold down the first app listed for 2-3 seconds and you will see a minus bar pop up on the top left corner of the icon. Tap that minus bar for each icon! Voila... faster phone with more battery power for stalking!

2. A faster life calls for faster pictures: Have you ever found yourself in this scenario? You are trying to protect your favorite gal pal, "OMG Look who that dirtbag is flirting with, quick! Take his picture before he sees us!"Then you try to catch him in the act by snapping his picture but you can't get your phone unlocked and the camera app up and running quickly enough. Then, boom! He sees you and covert operation is a total bomb!

Solution: On the new iOS 5 operating system, you can get to your camera app in 2 seconds. Maybe 1second if you have taken care of Tip Number 1 already! While your phone is locked and/or off, double tap the home button. Then click the camera icon just to the right of the "slide to unlock" bar. BOOM MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

3. Spotify on the Go: I'm sure most of you are listening to your iPod through your car stereo whether it be your own music or a third party app like spotify. Did you know you could change songs, pause, lower and increase the volume of your music all without unlocking your phone?

How to: Just like in the last step, double tap the iPhone Home button while the phone is off or in locked position. Then you will see rewind, fast forward, pause and song title. Proceed to sing as loud as you can!
